Meet Tracey Schrock, Tablespoon’s Senior Accountant. March marked five years since joining the Tablespoon team! We are excited to celebrate this milestone with Tracey and tell you a little bit more about her, and why she loves working at Tablespoon.
I am originally from Houston TX. I was born and raised there and it’s where I spent the first 36 years of my life. I moved to Dallas in 2017 upon accepting a position with Tablespoon.
I started my Food and Beverage career at the age of 16 – working as a dishwasher at Taco Bell. I stayed in this industry until I moved to Dallas to switch to an accounting career in 2017. I worked my way up from a dishwasher to a GM by the time I was 21. I had worked only fast food at that time, Taco Bell and Jason’s Deli. By the time I was a GM, I had taken a position at the Intercontinental Airport of Houston where I was managing two Franchise Chili’s restaurants. This gave me experience with a full-service restaurant, as well as with liquor, beer, and wine. I stayed at the airport for 5 years before moving onwards and upwards. At the end of my Food and Beverage career, I had achieved the role of Director of Catering for Salata, as well as the role of District Manager. My career in Food and Beverage was where I started to build my love of seeing the financials after performance in the store. I became increasingly interested in how these reports were put together. When I made the decision that I was burnt out in the industry, and had no desire to continue to climb the corporate ladder, I chose to switch to Accounting and enrolled in Southern New Hampshire University. I received my Accounting Degree 2.5 years later in 2016 and started my search for the perfect accounting job.
I am currently a Senior Accountant here at Tablespoon. This role was hard-earned over the course of 3 years. I feel my role is best described as support. I have daily responsibilities of AP entry, bank reconciliations, and sales postings that support the client. I have period responsibilities that support my superior’s preparation of financial reports. I thoroughly love being able to address client concerns, help improve their processes, as well as our own, and give them a prompt response to immediate needs. I also love that I get to help find resolve to issues that come up between how the client is sending us data and how it comes across on our end. With the addition of new staff this past year, I have also had a couple of opportunities to offer guidance and leadership internally.
The leadership, hands down. The number one reason I am with Tablespoon after 5 years is Andy and Carrie. I’ve had my fair share of unpleasant working environments. I have also had some wonderful working environments! But this job tops the list. Andy is a kind, generous, and intelligent businessman. He has a laid-back demeanor with his staff, taking a genuine interest in our lives. He listens to any concerns and actually makes true on his promises. It is rare to find the qualities that he possesses in a CEO. I have reported the majority of my time here to Carrie. She has been my shining beacon of light from the moment I first interviewed with her over the phone. Since I lived in Houston at the time, she made the most organized arrangements for me to come to Dallas and interview for the afternoon. I knew then and there that was the type of person I wanted to work for. She has taught me everything I know and has managed me respectfully and professionally. She also takes a genuine interest in my well-being and continued development. There is simply no price you can put on what the leadership provides. This is truly a dream job!
I have to say Pappasitos. The food there is AMAZING. They have AMAZING margaritas. My favorite margarita is The Wave. It’s a frozen margarita with swirls of fresh sangria. There are so many menu items I have tried that I cannot pick a favorite item. I will say anything they do with shrimp is so ridiculously delicious it should be illegal. It was a constant in my life while I lived in Houston. My family loves to go there so it seems every time visit them, we have to make a trip to Pappasitos. It is the same with several friends and groups. I have so many memories that occurred over dinner and drinks at Pappasitos I could not begin to count them all.
